Alessandro Mendini writes:
The image of a cake!
It’s the relationship between form and content, design’s eternal dilemma. Should a cake express its function? A cake’s function is to be delicious. And in order to be delicious, its form must be bellissima!
That’s because we always start eating a cake with our eyes first. A cake is an edible object that is particularly good to eat. Therefore, it needs to be a delicacy. I will leave this fundamental aspect of the cake to the chef, who will make it be immeasurably exquisite.
